Spelling Rule-5: Two sounds of “G”

In spelling rules, G has two different sounds. Soft /G/ is as /J/ and hard /G/ as /G/.

One is hard as /G/ in Goat and the other is soft as /J/ sound in GYM. Hard sound is taught in school in kindergarten. When to use, the letter G soft sound depends on the letter that follows G in the word.

Lets see with examples:
